Sacramento authorities are probing a gunfire incident that erupted Saturday night April 18 at Howe Park at the time law enforcement were dispersing an unauthorized event of several hundred people.
How It Started
Officers from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office initially got calls about Howe Community Park around 6:30 Saturday evening after learning of people potentially armed with concealed firearms. After that, a follow-up call was made about a reported physical confrontation unfolding at the location.
A sheriff's airship conducted an aerial sweep but could not confirm any ongoing fight. Despite this, deputies found that a crowd of several hundred had packed into the park without authorization.
The Moment Gunfire Erupted
Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies started clearing the unauthorized gathering by encircling the gathering and using their vehicle PA systems instructing the crowd to vacate the area. Roughly 15 minutes were spent for attendees to disperse.

Details gathered over police scanner frequencies showed that a Kia vehicle was intercepted in the Solano County area. Four individuals were held for questioning.
